Hello everyone, sorry for the delay, not having internet at the farm is a real pain at times. Yes, the water was cold, but fortunately not all 400 feet was waist deep, actually, it was a little less that that. Can you imagine how carefully an short old, fat guy can step when the water is about 1/2 inch below crotch level? Watch out for muskrat tunnels!!. Maybe we can make it across with the pickup if we really get a good run at it. The deer stands are in good shape, no windows shot out, just a few bugs and a mouse nest. Josh even washed the windows.
I was supposed to have a couple of guys from Wisconsin pheasant hunting last weekend, but they didn't show up. Or Call! I was really relieved, as there is not really any place to hunt pheasants until some crop gets out. Terri's brothers were out hunting last Saturday,(in Clark Co) and found a few birds, and had a good time. This morning, when Josh and I walked outside, there were several roosters sitting on the board fence by the barn.
I have seen quite a few deer, considering the amount of standing crops for them to hide in, Maybe we should set up a blind in the middle of Hiway 25! No big bucks lately, but have been seeing them earlier in the summer.
Soon, the shriveled up old farmer
