Bonesteel Muzzleloader Hunt

I didn't take a single picture, but the Old Grey Hunter, Pistol Pat, and Myself gave the deer around Bonesteel a reason to run for once. We spent 4 days living in a tin can and actively chasing deer that acted for the most part like they had never seen a monkey with a gun before. We only bagged one muley out there, but we got a chance to shoot at a few others and whitetails as well (open sight MLs really are harder to hit deer with than a .270 with a 9x scope). We chased a these bastards up and down 1400 feet of elevation for 4 days. It was pretty warm (20's), so it wasn't bad weather wise.

The highlight for me was the one that came walking over the saddle 20 yards away while I was in the middle of taking a piss. I managed to get off a shot at the little mother f*cker, but not before finishing, or pulling up my pants. I don't reccomend this as it is hard to reload a muzzleloader with your johnson hanging out when its 25 degrees.... thats dedication boys! Hell, the only reason I stopped running after it for the follow up shot was that I started dropping tools off my unfastened belt. Oh, did I mention that I jumped over a creek earlier in the day and landed on my feet, resulting in what the Dr. now thinks is a ruptured disk? Yeah, but that didn't keep this moron from climbing hills and chasing muleys. We didn't quit until NOAA said that we were in for 20 inches of blowing snow over three days.

Pat tells me he bagged another whitetail at cousin Ray's during the start of the blizzard. Me, I'm set up with a big bottle of Viocodin, watching Becca shovel. Who knew I could turn my dishwasher into a snowplow? HA, she's reading this over my shoulder. Well, Merry X-mas and happy New Year to all. Hope everybody got through the storm safe. See you next time!

Brrrrr, 20's is cold. I went dove hunting this morning and it was in the 20's... and my feet got cold. We didn't see any doves but in about an hour we watched 6-10 coyotes run around us... Wish we had something besides 7 shot. ;-)

Hey, I might need to borrow your snowplow. We're supposed to get more snow tomorrow.

I know I don't need your snowplow but this Saturday I am going to wish I had your canoe for the duck hunt I'm going on. Santa got me some wadders and a camo stock and fore grip for my 11-87.One day I hope I get out for the winter hunt ML or at the farm.
