I'm thinking about doing a lease here in TX for Dove hunting... what do you think? http://djfarmsdovelease.com/
They also allow hunting for anything else except deer. Dad, take a look at the website they run an operation similar to what you want to start.

Well, first day out today and only got to miss one dove. My buddy limited out on opening day in the same field. It is pretty strange to be posting in a field that has people spread out about every 100 yards over the whole thing...
What kind of guns does everyone use, I suppose most are over and under. Did your old model 12 fit right in?
If you can hit dove, is pheasant harder or easier?

I guess missing one is better than just hitting one because one Dove won't feed the family very much. Sounds like a pizza night to me.
Hey Deerkiller!!
Is shooting a dove kind of like shooting 2 fawns (Bambi and his sister?) lots of fun but doesn't feed the family very well?
Are we raising our standards this year?

Pat, Nelson and I had two years of decent dove hunts along the Missouri river. We really had no idea what we were doing. The first day we bought a half dozen decoys and sat down on Ray's farm and didn't see a single bird. The next morning we sat down in a giant patch of ragweed on the bluff down by the Niobrara bridge. We had a great time as the little buggers zoomed over our dekes. We bagged about 8 or 9 of them if I remember right. We probably shot off a box and a half of shells. The little bastards don't hang there like a pheasant, they MOVE. When we gutted them the craw was full of hemp seed. So if you have any local pot fields, I'd try there. I loved dove hunting, unfortunately in MN they don't really group up over public land. You need a watering hole and some seeds. From what I've rad they like ragweed, hemp, and sunflowers best.
