Deer Skinning

Pat found this video for a way to skin deer that looks very effective. We had heard of this before, but until I saw it I didn't know what we were missing.

Boomer taught me the BBST skinning technique over near Medicine Bow, Wyoming in October 1977. We did it on both deer and antelope that year. BBST techniques works for a dead critter smaller than an elk and larger than the little critter that that Grey Killer fella took out about 3 or 4 years back. (BBST) or the Boomer, Bronco Skinning Technique: tie up a good sized wad of the neck skin in a rock with 1 end of a rope; the other end on a Bronco trailer hitch (preferably Red Bronco). Boomer says that Chevys, Dodge's and the like can't pull stuff out of a sock. I don't remember if we cut a line down the underside of the legs or not - I seem to think we did. We would then shake pepper on them and wrap them in a cloth type material (game bag, or old sheets - I used all of those old white sheets I carry along with me to deer hunting trips.)

That method on the video is the way to go. Especially when butchering immediately. Nice Find!

I don't think we have a Bronco at all. We've got plenty of Dodges... maybe a Toyota will work :) (if all goes well we'll have two come hunting time!
